Welcome to ArtSports

We are so happy to have you join our family.  We know that decisions aren't always easy when it comes to our children.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of your child’s life.

Normally, when a new family signs up, they have a lot of questions.  Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and their answers:

What if I miss a class?

Artsports is not a “snooze, you lose” facility.  If you miss a class, we offer you a couple of choices.  First, you can call and schedule a make-up class.  Do be sure to call though, as we closely watch the composition of our classes (based on age and skill-level) for safety and quality purposes.  The day of your make-up class, stop by the front desk and fill out a make-up card.  Second, you can always substitute an open gym session for a make-up class.  For open gym make-ups, you do not need to call in advance.  Simply come down and fill out a make-up card and hand it to the front desk staff.  The desk staff will stamp your child’s hand, and then your child is all set to go.  However, we do require that any make-up class be completed during the same eight-week billing cycle as the missed class.  We also allow one week into the next billing cycle for a little breathing room.

What if I discontinue or need to take a break?

Unexpected things can happen, and life can get hectic.  We know that it isn’t always possible for every student to stay active with us all the time.  If you need a break from classes, simply stop by the front desk and give them a written notice of discontinuation.  The front desk staff will then pull your child from the class roster.  There are a couple of things to remember though - discontinuations can only happen at the end of the session (there is no refund for early withdrawal) and notice does need to be given to the front desk in writing.  Until the desk receives your written notice, you will be held financially responsible for the space that your child is holding.

How does it work with each new session?

ArtSports firmly believes that the children currently enrolled in our classes should have the first right to their spot in class going into each new session.  Therefore, you do not need to tell us at the end of each session to re-enroll your child.  We will do that automatically for you.  You do need to notify us in writing, however, if your child needs to change their class time or discontinue from the program.

What if we go on vacation?

Yea!  Vacations are the best!  As long as you notify our front desk staff in advance, ArtSports is happy to credit you for up to two weeks of missed classes.  Remember, notice must be given in advance so that we know to open up that spot for another child's make-up class.  For any missed classes after the two weeks, we will gladly schedule normal make-up sessions.

How do I know when the next tuition payment is due?

Good question.  There are three ways to keep track of our billing cycles.  The first is to pick up a copy of our Sessions Schedule Form at the front desk.  It shows the dates of the sessions, any closures, and the days that we will be offering our gym camps during school closures.  The second is to keep an eye on the windows of our front entrance.  We post important information there, including when tuition is due.  The third way to check tuition due-dates is to look on our website's home page, click on Sessions

What if there is bad weather?

Please call!!  We do not always follow the same closures as the school systems.  ArtSports very rarely closes due to bad weather.  However, if we decide to do so, we will update the message on the answering machine to reflect this decision.  Please call before leaving home.  There have been times when we stayed open in the morning and then closed for the afternoon as the weather got worse, and times when we were closed in the morning but then opened up for the afternoon as the weather improved.  Whether we choose to stay open or not, ArtSports obviously urges our families to play it safe.  If you feel it is unsafe to drive, then stay home.  Anyone missing a class due to bad weather will be offered a make-up class.

Do you close for all holidays?

Not all of them.  You can find our scheduled closures on the Sessions Schedule Form at the front desk and on our website's home page, "Sessions".   But as a rule, ArtSports usually closes for the following holidays:  Labor Day, Halloween, the week surrounding Christmas, the week of Spring Break (School District 11 and 20), Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July. We do have Camps and Parties during some of these occasions. The decision to close for these holidays does not reflect any religious preferences.  Over the years, we have noted the days when the most students are absent, so we now close on those days.  For holiday closures that are simply a day long, we can offer students a make-up class.  For holiday closures that are a week long, we extend our session billing cycle for an extra week to make up for the week we were closed.  For week-long closures, we do offer our gym camps.  This is a fantastic way for your kids to have a good time, improve their skills, and stay active while parents are at work.

What is appropriate dress for class?

For gymnastics, a leotard is fine.  Shorts, T-shirts, and sweats are good to.  All we ask is that the clothing is not too big or too small, and that it doesn’t have any buttons, zippers, or snaps that might poke the kids or damage our equipment.  Shoes and socks will come off anyway.  All jewelry should be removed.

How does my membership work?

The ArtSports membership is only for those that are taking classes with us.  The membership is good for one year from the date that you start your classes.  Even if you unenroll and then later re-enroll in classes, as long as you are within your year’s time, the membership is still good.  The membership applies to individuals but the cost is capped at $50 per family.   Besides making you eligible for classes, members also receive discounts on the cost of open gyms.  It’s easy to make back your membership money in open gym savings.

What are open gyms?

Open gyms are designated times that ArtSports opens its facility to the public.  Most people that attend the open gyms come just to play on our equipment.  It’s a great opportunity to take advantage of our bungees, trapezes, trampolines, tumble tracks, rod floors, and foam pits.  However, some people come to practice skills that they have learned during classes.  ArtSports does staff the open gyms with coaches to help ensure safety and to help the children with the equipment.  Open gyms are not designed to be instructional.  If you are looking for more instructional time, then we suggest you add another hour of classes to your current schedule.  Open gyms are not just for members.  Members do get a discount on the open gym prices, however.  The fees are $6 an hour for non-members, and $5 an hour for Open Gym Members and active members in classes.  ArtSports schedules different open gyms for different age groups.  We do this to ensure the safety of our guests.  For a complete open gym schedule, please stop by the front desk and pick up an ArtSports Class Schedule form.
